Questions and Answers
"I am very nervous,
will it make a difference?"
Most students are nervous about learning to drive and you
would probably be a little unnatural if you were not. You need
not worry, our instructors are specially chosen for their ability
to put you at your ease and with a little reassurance, will
soon have you achieving standards you did not think possible.
"How will I cope with
gears? I know nothing about cars"
You really need not worry about not being mechanically minded.
This is a fear many would be drivers have, only to find out
that they worried unnecessarily. Your instructor will easily
help you with this.
"Will ROADCRAFT collect
me for my lesson and bring me home again afterwards?"
Yes. All student drivers can be collected from home or their
place of work at no extra cost and without any loss of lesson
time, providing you don't live too far away. You certainly
wouldn't want to spend your entire lesson traveling in a straight
line with little achievement at the end!
"Is is possible for
me to learn very quickly and have a 'Crash Course'?"
Yes, although we prefer to call it an Intensive Driving Course.
If you can spare two or three weeks and would like to have
passed your test at the end then this is for you. You must
however have passed the theory test before you can apply for
the driving test.
We recommend you have a two hour assessment to allow your
instructor to determine how many lessons you will need. Everyone
learns at a different rate. It is not therefore possible for
anyone to honestly give you a fixed fee without first assessing
your ability.
"Will I get any help
to enable me to pass the theory test?"
The theory test need not be a worry to you. Your instructor
will guide you through any difficulties in this area and there
are of course some excellent publications to help you. If your
needs are special then the DSA have special arrangements for
those illiterate, dyslexic or disabled, and those whose first
language is not English.
"Is it possible for
me to learn if I am disabled?"
There are only a few disabilities which will prevent you from
learning to drive. We specialise in disabled drivers. Our achievements
in this field won us the 'Fit For Work' award. Previous successful
students include amputees, profoundly deaf, sufferers of cerebral
palsy and a thalidomide victim with no arms. We have instructors
who can use British Sign Language for teaching the deaf.
